PERRY COUNTY PHOTO CONTEST WINNERS
|
The winners of the Ohio Hill Country Heritage Area’s (OHCHA)
Perry County Photo Contest were
announced during the Perry County Art Walk in
Somerset, last Saturday.
Over 40 photos were entered and created a wonderful exhibit
of what’s special about Perry County.
Photos were judged on creativity and ability to showcase the county’s
unique heritage & natural
resources in four categories: history, nature,
culture and recreation.

CULTURE - by Chad Wilkins. Shawnee’s Historic District, placed on the National
Register of Historic Places in 1976 is a dramatic backdrop for this 1958

RECREATION – by Joy Alcalde. This photo captures the autumn leaves
during the Historical Society of Perry County’s hike to the Glenford Indian
Fort last October. |
Judges for the contest were award-winning photographer and
Ohio University professor
Larry Hamel-Lambert, Perry County photography studio
owner Zeb Wood, and OHCHA board

Thanks to everyone that participated! Photos will be featured on the OHCHA
website photo gallery
and will form a travelling exhibit that will rotate around
the county during the coming year.

year old student at St. Rose School She entered this dramatic black & white picture of a large
tombstone and ancient tree in the New Lexington cemetery, both reaching
toward the skies. |
There were over 40 entries in this year’s Perry County
photo contest and the works were displayed in the Somerset Courthouse. The Perry County Art Walk was well
attended and provided a great venue for the county’s photographers to share
their art. |
The Ohio Hill Country Heritage Area is a non-profit,
membership organization encompassing
Appalachian Ohio’s 31 counties. Our goal
is to promote heritage preservation and appropriate
development of the historical,
cultural, recreational, and economic resources of the region.
